Outreach programme
The Outreach Program (OP) is a continuous holistic humanitarian assistance program established by AKKHT with technical assistance from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) of Harvard Medical School and Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM), and implemented by physicians working together with poor women of the target community.
OP aims to alleviate the socio-economic struggles faced by the poorest women and girls in Bangladesh, beginning with its efforts in Korail Slum, home to around 300,000 impoverished people in the poorest living conditions and facing severe health risks.
The Women’s Cancer Screening Program (WCSP) offers free comprehensive screening services for cervical cancer, the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related death among women in Bangladesh, as well as for breast cancer, oral cancer, and non-communicable diseases to poor women.
The Bedside Assistant Training Program (BATP) is designed using the model of a non-technical, semi-skilled community caregiver able to serve who will be able to serve in a hospital, clinic, or nursing home, and aims to enhance employment opportunities of the poor women and girls by enabling them to contribute as an integral part of society.
